Course introduction

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist looking to expand your skill set, our course offers something for everyone.

Led by an expert art tutor, this short course will give you the opportunity to learn the principles of portrait drawing using a model and will lead to the development of a portfolio of portrait work.

Course content:

How do you start a portrait? How do you make it lifelike? These are questions that this short course will help you answer and introduce you to the tried and tested methods and techniques used by the professionals.

Our expert art tutor will guide you through the intricacies of line work, shading, proportion, and mark making, helping you to master the art of capturing the human essence on paper. Get ready to discover your unique style and watch your drawings come to life as you explore the world of portrait drawing.

You will receive an induction to our well-resourced Art Department, excellent tutor teaching, new knowledge and skills in portrait drawing, and opportunities to develop your creativity.

Basic drawing media and paper will be provided on the course. If you want to develop your work further you can purchase art materials at our Art Shop based at 25 Stoney Street.
