Tired of spending money on small home repairs? Ready to take charge and become your own home improvement hero? Introducing our course in construction!

From carpentry to plastering and tiling, you'll master it all in a friendly and inclusive environment. Say goodbye to spending money on minor fixes when you can do it yourself!

You will cover the following trade areas / units:

  • Carpentry
    • Construct Halving Joints
    • Construct Housing Joints
    • Fixing Architraves and Skirtings
    • Fitting Locks and Latches
  • Plastering
    • Prepare Background Surfaces for Rendering
    • Prepare Background Surfaces and Apply Finishing Coats
    • Mixing Materials and Apply Floating Coats
  • Tiling
    • Tiling a Plain Wall
    • Cutting and Fixing Decorative Panels
    • Tiling Floors with a Border

You can expect a friendly inclusive environment where you will spend 5 weeks in each trade area completing the practical units before moving onto the next trade area.

Course information

College Certificate

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.

You will be continually assessed by your tutor as you progress through the course and complete the practical units.

This course provides you with a grounding in the trade preparing you for an Entry Level or Level 1 6219 qualification.

You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times in the workshop.
