Course introduction
This course is perfect if you would like to develop your skills on a day long programme in Life Drawing.
This class is targeted at students who may not have previous experience of life drawing an would like to learn new skills and techniques in observational drawing.
If you have done a life drawing class with us before then you are able to join this class to refresh your skills in a friendly and supportive environment.
Throughout the day you will learn a variety of techniques and processes in life drawing, working with a range of materials to develop your skills and drawing the naked human form from life. Working from the human form you will focus on proportion and composition, applying both technical and expressive approaches.
You will work with a range of dry drawing media, pencil, pen, charcoal, chalks and pastels developing techniques of line, tone and limited colour palettes.
You will create a range of different pieces of work which you can take home with you, either on the day or at an arranged later date.
Course information
There are no formal entry requirements but must be aged 19+.
You may also like to join us for other available courses during the week of our Adult Summer Arts Programme. These include: Beadwork, Printmaking, Life Drawing, Life Painting with Oils, Sketch Booking, Ceramics Throwing and Turning , Mixed Media and Gelli Printing and Model Making.
You can also progress onto our part-time adult classes in art and design in 2026/2027.
Please make sure you are dressed appropriately as some art and design classes may get messy. You may want to bring an overshirt or apron to protect your clothes.
You may also want to bring with you some drawing or writing equipment as you may need this throughout the day.
