Course introduction

This course is a great choice if you are ready to start your career in the beauty industry and have a passion for making people feel pampered and good about themselves. Ideal for anyone wanting to upskill in body massage, or would like to start a career in the massage industry.

During the course, you will learn

  • Communication and consultation techniques
  • Contra-indications to body massage
  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Completing a full body massage treatment
  • Home and after care

You can expect a dedicated team of lecturers who still work in the industry, so have up to date skills and experience.

This course will be a hands-on learning experience to ensure you get a solid grounding in the main application of Swedish body massage using high quality products.

Practical skills will be assessed when carrying out a massage treatment on a model and completion of an end of unit test which will be graded pass, merit or distinction. Please note you will be asked to provide your own model.

If you have not recently achieved a relevant Health and Safety qualification you may be required to study this during the course at an additional cost.

Course information

City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Body Massage

You must have

  • Good communication skills
  • A keen interest in subject area
  • Good dexterity (hand/eye coordination)
  • An informal chat with tutor

Assessment is by:

  • Completion of several full body massage treatments
  • Multiple choice end of unit test and /or assignments

Other short courses such as bridal hair and make-up, basic waxing or afro Caribbean care and styling

Please note you need to provide your own model to complete treatments for assessment.

Please ensure that you are wearing all black e.g. black trousers or leggings and plain black t-shirt or tunic
