Course introduction
If you have mild learning difficulties and/or disabilities and would like to learn a range of skills including employability in a supportive environment, then this course could be perfect for you.
This course is for learners with mild learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
You will study English, maths, ICT, personal and social development, independent living and employability skills.
There are a range of vocational elements which can include:
- Conduct at Work
- Working in Business and Retail
- Using Graphics Software
- Imaging Skills
- Digital Marketing
- Customer Service Skills
There are also comprehensive enrichment elements built into the programme and an opportunity for some students to undertake work experience placements and/or supported internships.

Level 3 Gateway Qualification
No formal qualifications are required. We will invite you to sit an Initial Assessment and will be looking for a result of Entry Level 2 or Entry Level 3.
If your Initial Assessment results are lower than this, you may be suited to a different course, but don't worry as after your Initial Assessment, we'll always clearly explain all your options.
You will carry out work to achieve competence in each component of the course. You will be supported to produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your skills and achievements in each area of the programme.
You could progress to:
- Entry 3 Advanced
- Level 1 programmes

- Supported employment
- Paid employment
The programme is fully supported and run in small groups. It endeavours to provide a positive and rewarding experience for each learner.

As the year progresses you will be taken out of college on visits and activities which may incur a very small cost.
We also run various social clubs that you can join to increase your confidence and enhance your independent living skills outside of normal college times.
Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
