Course introduction

This course is perfect if you are interested in preparing for interviews within the supermarket retail sector at Tesco.

You will receive support with creating a Tesco careers profile, completing online applications and preparing for interviews.

You will:

  • Develop IT confidence in applying for jobs online
  • Understand basic supermarket roles and the importance of customer awareness
  • Create and manage a Tesco Careers profile
  • Understand retail terminology and workplace expectations
  • Complete online job applications accurately and effectively
  • Understand supermarket job roles and responsibilities
  • Develop customer service, health and safety awareness and Think 25 knowledge
  • Demonstrate practical interview techniques
  • Recognise transferable interpersonal skills
  • Understand next steps into employment

Week 1 

  • Develop IT confidence and create a Tesco Careers profile
  • Understand supermarket roles and retail jargon 

Week 2 

  • Prepare for interviews and common questions
  • Identify health and safety responsibilities 

Week 3 

  • Develop customer awareness and Think 25 knowledge
  • Recognise transferable interpersonal skills 

Week 4 

  • Q&A with existing Tesco staff
  • Review progress and explore next steps into employment

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate practical service and customer awareness skills and positive interview performance techniques.

Non-accredited

There are no formal entry requirements.

You should attend regularly and be punctual and have a good standard of written and spoken English.

You will be required to complete a mandatory course workbook (Unique Learning Programme) each week, with the support of your course tutor. 

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete a short workbook and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course. 

The course tutor can discuss appropriate opportunities if you wish to further your learning in this subject area. Information will be made available about other course opportunities at Nottingham College.  You will have the opportunity to access external careers guidance to aid your next steps.

All learning materials will be provided. The course supports applications for Tesco festive and seasonal vacancies.
