Course introduction

This qualification is perfect if you are interested in aviation operations. It will provide you with skills in health, safety, security and communications required to work within an aviation environment.

Modules include:

  • Health and safety within aviation
  • Aviation security
  • Aviation communications
  • Aviation passengers with special requirements

This qualification is designed for people who wish to progress into job roles within airside ramp services, providing safe airside operations (airports), supporting aircraft operations or handling passengers. This qualification will 

  • focus on the study of transportation, operations and maintenance
  • offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
  • provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills

The objectives of this qualification are to: 

  • provide you with skills in health, safety, security and communications required to work within an aviation environment
  • develop learners’ skills in specific aviation functions

Course information

10 weeks

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Aviation Operations on the Ground (Knowledge)
  • Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award In Progression

There are no form entry requirements for this qualification, however, you can complete the Level 1 Exploring the Aviation Industry course prior to this one if you wish to.

You must be aged 19+ and meet the criteria for funding which you can read here

You will complete a portfolio of evidence.

You could progress to:

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Cabin Crew
  • Level 2 and 3 Travel and Tourism qualifications
  • Employment within the sector
