Those wanting to start or progress a career in construction management or site supervision can get stuck in with our new HNC Modern Methods of Construction course starting this September at Nottingham College.

Delivered in our new state-of-the-art Centre for Sustainable Construction Technology at Ruddington Campus, the course will provide a broad foundation in construction and construction management functions such as construction technology, financial management, business practices and more. 

Aligning with our Future Ready mindset, students will benefit from industry-standard facilities and equipment including 20 building information modelling workstations, timber frame assembly tables and a digital immersive room for construction safety training, providing hands-on experience with the latest industry technologies. They will also experience net zero construction with renewable energy systems and environmental monitoring technologies, fitting with the UK’s net zero 2050 ambitions.

The HNC Level 4 qualification, equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree, combines academic knowledge with practical and professional skills to prepare students for the workplace. Providing progression opportunities, such as, employment roles in construction and project management, the opportunity to progress onto university to complete a related degree, working towards professional body membership or progressing towards the Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Construction Management. 

The two-year, part-time course is well suited to those who have completed a Level 3 in a related course and are ready to take the next step in the construction and built environment industry. Expect a practical, career-focused learning experience aligned with employer needs, whilst developing transferable skills, such as, communication, teamwork, research, problem-solving and digital competence, alongside an understanding of health and safety, legislation and industry practices.
