Are there maximum daily caps?
Yes, we have daily caps in place, if you choose a provider who’s daily costs are greater than our capped amount, you will need to pay any difference yourself.
Who can I use as my childcare provider?
Your childcare provider must be Ofsted registered. We do not fund friends or family.
What childcare will you fund?
We will fund your timetabled classes and any reasonable travel time between provider and the College campus where you study (usually 1 hour before and after class).
What if my child receives Nursery Education Funding?
If you are eligible to claim Nursery Education Funding (NEF) vouchers, where possible these hours should be used to cover your timetabled lessons.
Can I get childcare funding for a level 3/4 course?
Yes, depending on the type of course and how this is funded. Please speak to the Student Finance Team, who can advise you further, once your enrolment has been completed.
How long will it take?
It may take us some time to process applications at the start of the academic year; also, childcare providers are often busy and wont reply immediately. However, we cannot process your application until we have received costs from your childcare provider.
Can I get a refund for childcare if I pay myself?
If you are eligible for support, we can reimburse costs where you have paid yourself initially – please keep receipts as these will need to be provided as proof of payment. Talk to us about this as soon as possible so that we don’t pay the provider for the same period.
My provider says I can use the nursery now; do you back date payments?
We will back date payments to the nursery from the start of your course, subject to funds being available.
What evidence do I need to provide for childcare funding?
We require official evidence of your child’s identity, such as birth certificate, child benefit letter or home office letter. We will not be able to process your childcare application without this evidence.
Can I change my childcare provider once funding is in place?
Yes, if you change address or have a concern with your provider. Please speak to the Student Finance team before you change provider.
Is there a college nursery?
We do have an Ofsted registered nursery: Once Upon A Time, at the Adams campus that can be used by students and can be funded for eligible students. You will still need to complete an application form and submit appropriate evidence. If you would like to arrange a visit or would like
