At Nottingham College, we’re committed to helping every learner succeed, whatever your background, circumstances, or support needs. If you have a disability, learning difficulty, medical condition, or mental health challenge, we offer a wide range of support to help you thrive in your studies.

Support from the start

Support begins even before you enrol. If you let us know about any additional needs, we’ll ask for more information and relevant evidence. Our experienced team will assess your requirements and work with you to identify the most appropriate support to help you succeed.

This might include:

  • Recommendations for your tutors
  • Assistive technology and training
  • In-class support or one-to-one sessions
  • Adapted learning materials
  • Study skills and exam preparation workshops
  • Pastoral support
  • Referrals to external agencies if needed

Our goal is to help you become an independent learner as quickly as possible. While the support may differ from what you received at school, we’ll work closely with you to ensure it’s tailored to your course and personal goals.

What support could look like

Once enrolled and assessed, you may be able to access:

  • Learning support workshops

We provide:

  • Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for classroom or lunchtime support
  • Help with organisation, social interaction, and managing change

Support includes:

  • Mobility and personal care assistance
  • Liaison with external professionals (e.g. occupational therapists)
  • Exam access arrangements
  • Emergency care planning and medication support
