Mental health support for adult learners
At Nottingham College, we understand that life can be complex and that mental health and wellbeing are essential to your success, both in and outside the classroom. Whether you're returning to education, balancing study with work or family life, or facing personal challenges, our dedicated team is here to support you.
How we can help
Our Wellbeing Mentors offer confidential, non-judgemental support to help you manage any issues that may affect your learning or overall wellbeing. You can speak to us about a wide range of concerns, including:
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Exam stress or academic pressure
- Self-harm or suicidal thoughts
- Housing or homelessness
- Financial difficulties
- Low attendance or motivation
- Addiction or substance misuse
- Abuse, bullying, or harassment
- Gender identity and sexuality
- Sexual health
- Bereavement or loss
- Caring responsibilities
- Involvement with probation or youth offending services
- Any other personal challenges
You don’t need to go through it alone. Whether you’re looking for someone to talk to, practical advice, or a referral to specialist services, we’re here to help.
Accessing support
You can contact a Wellbeing Mentor directly or email us at wellbeing@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk. We’ll ensure you’re connected with the right person or service to support your needs.
All conversations are handled with sensitivity and confidentiality. You don’t need to inform your tutor or anyone else unless you choose to.
Why reach out?
Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your academic progress. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness, and can make a real difference to your experience at college.
