If you have completed the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping and would like to move on, this course is perfect!

During the course, you will study the following modules:

Introduction to Bookkeeping

This unit will provide you with an understanding of manual and digital bookkeeping systems, including the associated documents and processes. You will learn the basic principles that underpin the double-entry bookkeeping systems. The percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade is 50%.

  • Understand how to set up bookkeeping systems
  • Process customer transactions
  • Process supplier transactions
  • Process receipts and payments
  • Process transactions into the ledger accounts

Principles of Bookkeeping Controls

This unit builds on the knowledge and skills acquired from studying Introduction to Bookkeeping and explores control accounts, journals and reconciliations. You will develop the ability to prepare the value added tax (VAT) control accounts as well as the receivables and payables ledger accounts. You will use the journal to record a variety of transactions, including the correction errors. You will be able to redraft the initial trial balance, following adjustments. The percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade is 50%.

Course information

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping

  • Level 1 Bookkeeping qualification or equivalent
  • Evidence of Maths and English GCSE, Functional Skills or equivalent.
  • Students will be assessed on entry for the course, so we welcome all prospective students to apply and we will support their enrolment onto the right course level

You will undertake a computer based assessment when you are ready.

You could progress to the AAT Level 2 in Accounting or pursue a career in bookkeeping or accounting with further study.
