Course introduction

The LAU1 module is a specialist assessment under the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) for gas engineers working with commercial laundry appliances. This course equips engineers with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely install, commission, service, and repair gas-powered laundry equipment in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer specifications.

  • Appliance Types & Functions: Understand the operation of commercial gas laundry appliances such as dryers, rotary irons, and finishing equipment.
  • Installation & Commissioning: Learn correct procedures for positioning, connecting, testing, and commissioning laundry appliances in commercial settings.
  • Servicing & Fault Diagnosis: Gain hands-on experience in routine maintenance and identifying faults specific to laundry systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Apply gas safety legislation, ventilation and flueing requirements, and manufacturer instructions relevant to laundry environments.

This is a professional exam for gas engineers.

This Gas Safety Assessment tests the gas safety competence in installing, exchanging, disconnecting, servicing, repairing, breakdown and commissioning domestic laundry tumble dryers.

Course information

12 hours

You must have an in-date Core Gas Safety Certificate (CCN1) and experience of working with domestic laundry appliances.

Assessment is by practical tests and a theory exam.
