Programme of Study
When you enrol in your chosen course at Nottingham College, you will be registered in a Level 3 Programme of Study (PoS), which includes the following components:
The Programme of Study provides you with the opportunity to gain both industry-specific knowledge and essential skills. If you have not yet achieved a grade 4 in English and maths, the PoS ensures you will study these subjects, aiding your progression both at college and in your future career (this is for progressing students, new applicants must have grade 4 English & Maths to study at Level 3). Additionally, the PoS includes a 30-hour work placement related to your course, offering valuable hands-on experience.
You will participate in enrichment activities designed to develop broader skills critical for success in any industry, such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to follow instructions. These activities will enhance your CV and make you more competitive in the job market. Personal development sessions will cover relevant topics like PREVENT, British Values, and personal safety. Your personal development tutor will provide one-on-one support for your wellbeing and growth, while a personal tutor will set academic targets to keep you on track.
The PoS also includes involvement in social action projects, which support local communities and charities. These projects help you develop "future-ready" skills, including respect, tolerance, critical thinking, complex problem-solving, adaptability and resilience, creativity, originality and initiative, and digital literacy. These competencies are essential for becoming work-ready.
Independent study is another crucial element of your timetable, where you will engage in activities such as research, revision, improving digital skills, and completing assignments.
Given the practical nature of the course, consistent attendance is vital for your success and to achieve your full academic potential. We expect full attendance in all classes to ensure you make the most of your educational experience.
By committing to the Level 3 Programme of Study at Nottingham College, you are setting yourself up for comprehensive learning and skill development, preparing you for both academic and professional success.
