Course introduction

As a T Level combines academic theory with practical skills, it is seen as more of an academic route than an apprenticeship, but more practical than A Levels. It provides the perfect mix to progress onto skilled employment, higher level apprenticeships or higher education (university).

During the 2 years the course gives you the opportunity to learn core principles of the media industry and essential theories, alongside developing your professional and technical skills. This will be balanced with practical work in our studios and creative classrooms to build further technical skills. You will get the chance to work in two forms of media including, but not limited to, moving/still image, audio and written word. This will allow you to specialise in your area of interest within the Content Creation and Media Production sector and study topics such as:

 You will specialise in:

  • Generating ideas for content development for different platforms
  • Planning the production of the required content for different platforms (including but not exclusive to moving/still image, audio and written word).
  • Creating and delivering the required content for the chosen platforms and/or venues (including but not exclusive to moving/still image, audio and written word) coordinating with others where appropriate
  • Evaluating the extent to which the content and plan meet objectives taking on board feedback.

Employer-set project

As part of the course you will complete a creative industry project brief, culminating in a substantial piece of work, in which you will develop, apply and demonstrate the following skills:

  • Undertaking research
  • Generating ideas
  • Communicating ideas
  • Developing ideas
  • Working collaboratively with others
  • Reflective practice

Across the two years, you will complete an exciting 45-day (315 hours) placement with a reputable employer.

This is a unique opportunity that helps to prepare you for your future by:

  • Giving you experience at an external business
  • Enhancing your technical skills ready to take into the workplace
  • Creating relationships with employers that could result in an apprenticeship or employment.
