Course introduction

This course provides essential training for plumbing and heating professionals on the legal requirements governing the installation and maintenance of water systems in the UK. Focused on the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and relevant local bylaws, the programme ensures that engineers understand how to design, install, and maintain systems that protect public health and prevent water wastage, misuse, and contamination.

  • Legal Framework: Understand the scope and purpose of the Water Regulations and local water bylaws.
  • System Design Principles: Learn how to design compliant hot and cold water systems, including pipework, fittings, and backflow prevention.
  • Installation Standards: Explore best practices for installing water systems in domestic and commercial settings.
  • Contamination Prevention: Identify risks and apply measures to prevent cross-contamination and safeguard water quality.
  • Notification & Certification: Understand when and how to notify water authorities and issue compliance certificates.
