Course introduction

Throughout history all people and cultures have been united by food. Through food you can learn so much about a peoples' culture and history.

On world cuisine that’s exactly what we aim to do!

During this six week course you will be taught by a trained and experienced chef to produce a dish from a different region of the world every week. While you cook the chef will teach you the origins of the dish, the history that led to its creation and its significance to the people of today.

During the course you will cook: katsu curry, Cajun gumbo, Korean army stew and more!

World cuisine is a celebration of cultures and a collective global history and we hope to see you there.

Topics include:

  • Week 1:
    • Learn about the history and cultures through food
    • Make Chicken Tikka Masala and learn the origins of this dish
    • Learn about the history between UK and India
  • Week 2:
    • Make Katsu Curry and Tempura
    • Learn about the French influence with a curry roux
    • Learn about the Chinese influence
    • Learn about the Indian influence and the spices used
    • Learn about the Portuguese origin of tempura
  • Week 3:
    • Learn about Cajun cooking, the American history and the French influence
    • Make Gumbo
  • Week 4:
    • Use your creativity to make pasta and form it into different shapes
  • Week 5:
    • Make Ratatouille
    • Learn about dishes cooked during the French Revolution
  • Week 6:
    • Make Korean Army Stew
    • Learn about the history of this dish and the influence of the American soldiers stationed in Korea during the Korean war.

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.

You will receive verbal feedback throughout the course.
