The long-awaited moment finally arrived today (Thursday 14th August) as hundreds of our students from High Pavement Sixth Form gathered to receive their A Level results. After months of dedication and determination, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, relief, and pride as students opened the envelopes that marked the next chapter in their academic journeys.
The college saw many students progressing to their chosen universities, including the University of Hull, Exeter University, Sheffield University, the University of Manchester, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Nottingham and many more.
Among those celebrating this milestone is Nicholas Keuter, 18, from Derbyshire, who achieved an incredible three A* and two As in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, securing his spot at the University of Nottingham to study Mathematical Physics.
Upon opening his envelope revealing his remarkable grades, he said:
“I’m so happy because I got what I needed to get into my chosen university, and I actually got grades that were a bit higher than my expectations!
I’ve enjoyed my time at High Pavement, my teachers are such great people, they’re so supportive here and I’ve made some great long-term friends.”
Aurora May Mold, 18, from Beeston achieved A, A, C in Biology, Psychology and Sociology and will be joining Rolls Royce on a Level 4 Apprenticeship programme. She said:
“I’d set myself high standards buy I am really happy with my results and I’m looking forward to starting my Apprenticeship.
“I really enjoyed my time at High Pavement; the teachers were so supportive and encouraging. I would definitely recommend the college – it’s such a friendly and inclusive environment.
“Eventually I’d like to go into business management but for now I’m excited to join the team at Rolls Royce and see where it takes me.”
Congratulations also go to Freya Sweeney,18, who is heading off to the prestigious University of Cambridge thanks to her impressive four A grades in Maths, English Language, Politics and German. She will be studying Modern and Medieval Languages - pursuing her passion for German and exploring a newly discovered interest in Russian. Her long-term ambition is to build a career in international relations and diplomacy. We spoke to her about her after receiving the good news, she said:
“The support at High Pavement has been incredible. From help with my Cambridge application to preparing for my German exam, the lecturers have gone above and beyond to help me achieve my goals.”
High Pavement Assistant Principal, Adam Beazeley, joined tutors and staff in celebrating and supporting students throughout the day.
He said: “Today is about celebrating the incredible efforts of our students and staff. There have been some incredible success stories and we’re delighted to see so many students get the rewards their hard work deserves. It’s been fantastic to see so many students securing places at their first choice universities or securing their degree apprenticeships.
“We’re proud of every single one of them and wish them all the very best as they take their next steps, whether that’s university, college, an apprenticeship, or heading straight into the world of employment.”
