In today's rapidly evolving economic landscape, staying ahead of the curve is more critical than ever.
Many things have changed and are continuing to shift for businesses like yours, whether that’s:
- The recent announcements around the new Skills and Growth Levy,
- The upcoming increase in National Insurance and national minimum wage for apprentices from April 2025 or
- The defunding for Level 7 apprenticeships.
This is not an exhaustive list and it’s already a lot to navigate, but you’re not alone.
At Nottingham College we understand the challenges you face, and we are working with employers just like you to help them navigate these changes and maximise the benefits of your Apprenticeship Levy. Here's how we can help.
Upskilling your existing workforce
It’s a pressing time for the labour market, with the ongoing cost of living crisis, influence of global macroeconomic factors including recent political elections, post-Brexit logistical pressures and the economic recovery after Covid-19. Skills shortages combined with rapidly-evolving technology mean that upskilling your existing workforce to retain that experienced talent pool is more crucial than ever.
Some apprenticeships are being shortened to as little as 8 months – a quickfire way to upskill your team and something we are well placed to help you with.
A bespoke training programme
Whatever your sector, size of organisation or specific employment and skills challenge your business faces, we can help. From in-house training to online remote personal development courses and higher level apprenticeships, talk to us to find out how your organisation could fill skills gaps to meet the demands of your business.
Identify funding options to invest in your team
Upskilling does not have to mean paying more for training and development, and there are multiple options we can help you access, especially if you are eligible for the Apprenticeship Levy. For example, you may benefit from National Insurance relief for employees under 25, making an apprenticeship cost-effective solution for both new and existing staff. Alternatively, the Adult Skills Fund may cover what your organisation requires, which allows us to explore free funding channels to train your staff.
Support during difficult times
If you're facing the tough decision of letting staff go due to costs, we can support you in your duty of care to your employees. For example our Outplacement services, including career counselling, interview coaching and employability skills training, can help ease the transition for those affected by planned or unexpected redundancies.
Let’s talk
At a time when every penny counts, investing in learning and development is an impactful and cost-effective way to retaining and motivating your staff through challenging periods. Let's work together to ensure your business thrives.
I am committed to assisting the labour market in navigating this new landscape with a focus on continuous improvement, upskilling and levy utilisation.
