Last week, some of our Level 3 IT, students ended their IT project in collaboration with Boots. A ‘Dragon’s Den’ style event took place, where the four groups presented their final projects to Boots representatives, who chose a winner.
The project started with a visit to Boots’ headquarters, where the students gained an insight into the company’s operations. Each group was then assigned the brief for their project, which aligned with one of Boot’s goals and covered areas like digital strategy, customer experience, sustainability, and app development. They had six weeks to work on their concepts, before presenting.
The four groups projects were:
Group 1 – Skinsight
This group focused on an AI powered virtual dermatologist for skin health assessments which offered users personalised skincare based on an AI analysis.
Group 2 – Beard and Beyond
This project was to develop a male grooming consultation service, tailored to beard and skincare for men.
Group 3 – KIRA
The concept for this project was to create an AR virtual makeup try-on tool, allowing users to try makeup products virtually before making a purchase.
Group 4 – The Beauty Vault
The last group introduced a social media-driven beauty platform that connects users with influencers and provides AI-powered trend insights to engage customers.
We spoke to the representatives from Boots who said:
“Thank you, Nottingham College, for hosting us for the Dragons Den-style project pitches.
The Boots team thoroughly enjoyed visiting and were incredibly impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of each project and presentation. Every team showcased their projects with confidence and shared some truly innovative ideas.
We wish the students all the best in their future careers and look forward to welcoming them into the IT world at Boots someday!”
Well done to all students who took part and worked so hard on your projects and congratulations to the Beauty Vault for winning!
