We are proud to announce that Nottingham College has gained Level 1 Disability Confident Committed status.

This is the first level in a 3-tier scheme run by the Government’s Department for Work and Pensions, and an exciting step forward for the college, with the work towards the accreditation undertaken by our EDI Advisor, Celine Ischebeck. As a part of gaining our Level 1 status, we have committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible, to anticipate and provide reasonable adjustments as required, and to support any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition, enabling them to stay in work.

Accreditations like these, and the commitments we make as a part of them, are valuable tools in measuring our existing processes, but importantly also help us strive for greater equity and positive change. Beyond being a badge which outlines our commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, the Disability Confident scheme provides a framework for channelling the work we are undertaking towards being a more inclusive workplace.

We recognise that there is always more to be done, and we are working in various spaces to evaluate our recruitment practices, to ensure that we are supporting potential colleagues in ways that meet their needs, and continuing to strengthen the support we provide existing colleagues including those with long-term health conditions or a disability.
