Our Level 3 Business students had a fantastic opportunity to engage with local businesses as part of a sustainability event at Nottingham Contemporary Gallery.

Our students put their questions to a panel of representatives from Cartwright Communications, Conspare: Concrete Production Company, CPMG Architects and Efficiency North, who all spoke about the importance of sustainability and their ESG initiatives. Our students were also joined by Learning Technology Coach Kate Whyles, who presented a fantastic opportunity for our students to get involved in Technovation, a global tech initiative aimed at empowering a global wave of change through technology.

Our students shared what sustainability means to them, and the importance of covering the topic as part of their college course.

The event also kicked off a 6-week project where our students will get the chance to put their skills into practice, by working on a live-brief which will culminate in a ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch to a panel of business representatives. The winning group will receive £500 to bring their idea to life, as well as a raft of support from our industry experts.

Hear from Joe Came, Panellist and ESG Manager from Efficiency North about the importance of engaging in conversations around sustainability, bridging the gap between real life sustainability and the business world and the advantage our students have in being able to engage with sustainability projects right from the start of their studies.

Our journey to becoming carbon zero

Nottingham has serious sustainability ambitions for the city and as a college we share these ambitions. As a large employer, occupying a sizeable estate, we must set an example for responsible environmental management and we have a duty to raise environmental awareness among our staff and learners.
