On Saturday 21st March, Skate Nottingham will host Fix-ups & Fastplants, an interactive community day taking place at the Tram Line Spot Skate Park on Sussex Street, next to City Hub.

The day will involve free skateboard coaching along with equipment to borrow, skateboard repair workshops, plus planting workshops with Jack Harris from Grow Notts.

Chris Lawton, Community Development Lead at Skateboard GB, the governing body for skateboarding, will also run a repair session for the skate space. Alongside this, he will lead a filmmaking and skate filming workshop. Together these sessions will explore a wide range of skills, from practical trade skills to place making, digital skills and different career themes. They will show how taking part in spaces like Tram Line Spot can open pathways into the built environment sector as well as creative and digital professions.

Skate Nottingham is a non-profit place-making, sports development and alternative education organisation rooted in Nottingham’s globally significant skateboarding community.

Funded by Mindera UK Foundation and It’s In Nottingham, the aim of the event is to provide plenty of free opportunities for skills learning, as well as care and activation of a unique Nottingham space.

The day’s schedule:

12:00 - 13:30: Free skateboard coaching (ages 7+), led by a team of qualified coaches, with skateboards and helmets available to borrow.

13:30 - 16:00: Care & repair of TLS (Tram Line Spot), allotment planting, skateboard planter construction, and filming.
