Did you know that you may be eligible for Student Finance Support towards the cost of attending college?
If you are on an eligible further education course and your household income is less than £40,000 GROSS*, we may be able to help you with funding towards the cost of travel to college (you will need to live 1.5 miles or more away from your college campus), equipment and childcare.
*This can increase by £1,000 for each additional dependent child you have aged under 20 living in your home.
Help with travel costs
If you are unsure how to get to your College campus, or unsure if you will get travel support please use our Travel Pass Checker app. Type in the postcode where you live, and select the campus you are studying at. The app will calculate the travel distance to your destination, and let you know if you would be eligible. Your household income must be less than £40,000 per year to receive travel support.
Childcare for students
Nottingham College can support eligible students with their childcare costs whilst they are studying. Please note that you will need to provide evidence of your relationship to the child such as a birth certificate, child benefit, or relevant Tax Credit award notice.
You can apply for a place at our internal Nursery ‘Once Upon a Time’, or you can find your own external Ofsted registered provider to send your child to. This may be an after-school club, breakfast club, childminder, or nursery. All childcare providers must be Ofsted registered.
Where possible we will try and contribute with up to 100% of your childcare costs for the days and times you attend college. However, we have caps on the daily amounts that we can cover for students, therefore if your childcare providers fees are higher than the cap, you will have to pay the difference in costs.
Please apply for your childcare support in the ‘Childcare’ Section of the Student Finance application to be assessed for this. Log in to your Nottingham College account dashboard, click on the “Apply for Student Financial Support”.
