We’ve partnered with Notts County Football Club to launch a new football coaching course exclusively for women.
With the popularity of women's football continuing to soar and the Lionesses preparing to represent England in the UEFA Women's Euro this July, the demand for skilled professionals in the sport has never been higher.
The Level 3 course offers a unique opportunity for keen female football enthusiasts and girls passionate about sports in general. It aims to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the sport, leisure, or fitness industries.
This is the first year of the programme, with capacity to enrol an initial cohort of 20 females. Carl Ara, Assistant Principal – Basford, said:
"I am thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Notts County FC through this fantastic new initiative. We take immense pride in offering educational opportunities that widen participation and open doors for people from all backgrounds across Nottingham. The introduction of a dedicated female cohort of football scholars is particularly exciting for us and for the City of Nottingham, especially at a time when women’s football is reaching new heights.
“We look forward to supporting these talented individuals as they develop their skills and pursue their ambitions in football."
The programme not only focuses on sports coaching but also includes essential topics such as nutrition, fitness, and psychology. Interested applicants can apply for a place via the college website and will be invited to a trial, which will include a practical element and an informal interview.
Joshua Bradshaw, Head of Education and Safeguarding at Notts County Football Club, said:
“We are thrilled to launch this exciting partnership between Notts County Women and Nottingham College. We aim to provide opportunities for young women in Nottingham. By integrating education with football development, we’re providing a clear pathway for aspiring female footballers to achieve their ambitions both on and off the pitch.
“Nottingham as a city has a strong sporting tradition and culture, and this initiative ensures that local female talent has the support and resources needed to succeed. It strengthens women’s football in the city while developing young players with the skills and qualifications to build successful careers, whether in professional sport or beyond.”
Trials will take place at Notts County FC on Wednesday 11th June at the Notts County Academy on Meadow Lane, between 6-8pm. Players must bring football boots/Astro Boots (no blades or metal studs), and arrive dressed in black shorts, football socks, and shin pads, ready to play. Players are reminded to bring plenty of fluids and must have applied for the course via our college website before they attend.
