Course introduction

This course is perfect if you would like to start a career in digital technology or IT or progress to higher level study or even an apprenticeship.

You will learn: 

  • How to create digital multichannel applications
  • IT network features and functions, network security practices, and network appliances

BTEC Level 2 Technical Diploma in Digital Technology (Digital Applications)

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-3 (A*-D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9-4 (A*-C). 

Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above.

You will be assessed by a combination of internal and external assessments:

  • 33% external assessment through tasks and onscreen tests
  • 67% internal assessment through assignments

You could progress to:

  • Entry-level jobs in IT such as junior developer, content coordinator, trainee mobile developer
  • A Level 3 qualification
  • A Level 3 digital apprenticeships
  • A T level in digital

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
