You can expect a supportive learning experience delivered through a blend of instructor‑led sessions, group discussions, and individual and group activities. Each session builds progressively, helping participants grow in confidence as they learn how to support others using a Mental Health First Aid action plan. Group sizes are kept small (limited to 16 participants) to ensure a safe, supportive environment, and all learning content is designed to be as accessible and inclusive as possible.
You can study this course either online or face-to-face structured across flexible sessions. Each session is a maximum of 3hrs 45mins and sessions can be delivered within a two-week period.
You will be trained over 2 full days, or 4 half days with a MHFA England Instructor Member, covering 14 hours of content in total.
There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.
Designed for training employers and colleagues, this course provides a strong foundation that supports progression into further CPD and development pathways. After completing the Mental Health First Aid course, you’ll have the opportunity to test your knowledge and strengthen your confidence as an MHFAider by achieving the internationally recognised RSPH Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid.
