Whether you want to work with adults with disabilities or health problems, or those needing other types of support, our health and social care courses will give you the knowledge and experience to carve out a career in the growing and rewarding care sector.

If you already have experience in this sector, you can improve your job prospects by building on your existing qualifications, by using your experience and knowledge to gain a formal qualification.

You’ll benefit from fantastic facilities at either our Basford or City Hub campuses. Most courses include work experience and we have many links with local hospitals, voluntary organisations and care homes. Our teaching staff have extensive and current industry experience and offer a supportive learning environment. We also work closely with the area’s top employers, including Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

After completing your course you can choose to go into employment with the skills you’ve learned, or to progress onto a university-level course.

The number of roles available in the caring profession is rising across Nottinghamshire, so these courses are a great choice if you are looking for a direct route into employment.

The number of jobs available in the caring profession is rising across Nottinghamshire, so our courses are a great choice if you are looking for a direct route into employment.

There are lots of different roles in health and social care depending on what you want to do, who you want to work with and where you’d like to work. For example, you could be supporting someone with a physical disability, autism, dementia or a mental health condition. Or you could be working in a care home, out in your local community, in a hospital or from someone’s home.

Plus, there are a vast number of career options in the industry – whether you would like to be an Ambulance Technician, Care Assistant, Environmental Health Worker, Midwife, Nurse, Nursery Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic, Radiographer, Residential Warden, Social Services Officer, Speech/Language Therapist, Support Worker – there are many choices available to you.

  • On any one day, there are 90,000 vacancies for social care jobs in England.
  • At any one time, there are over 80,000 vacancies for social care jobs in England.
  • The Health Sector employs 1.7 million people in England.
  • The number of adult social care jobs is expected to grow to around 2.6 million by 2025.
  • As of 31 March 2017, there were 1.21 million full time equivalent (FTE) staff working for the NHS.

Pre-Access to Science & Nursing (Level 2) – Part-time

You are interested in or currently working in the healthcare, social care or science sector or looking to progress onto an Access course.

Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings (19+) (Level 1 NCFE CACHE Diploma) – Part-time

You are interested in learning more about working within health and social care or children’s settings.

Health and Social Care (Level 3 CACHE Certificate) – Full Time

This course is perfect if you have a passion for healthcare science and want to explore degree level study and career options in a nursing and midwifery, social work or any other health or social care profession.

Preparation for Access to Science and Health Professions - Part-time

This course is designed to increase your self-confidence and prepare you for the start of your studies through the development of core study and subject skills relevant to the Access to HE course.

Access to Higher Education: Health and Social Care - Full-time

If you are interested in a career working with families, children and young people, the elderly or vulnerable people, this course could be the one for you.

Health and Social Care (Entry 3 BTEC Diploma) - Full-time

This course is perfect if you’d like to explore a career in Health & Social Care and prepare for higher level courses in this subject.

Health and Social Care (Adult Care) (Level 2 CACHE Diploma) - Full-time

This course is perfect if you have an interest in working with adults in a range of clinical healthcare support and adult care settings and want to develop your knowledge and skills in health and social care.

Health and Social Care (Health Sciences) (Level 3 BTEC Foundation Diploma) - Full-time

This course is perfect if you have a passion for, and interest, in science and want to explore degree level study and career options in a healthcare science, nursing and midwifery, social care or any medical profession.

Introduction to Health and Social Care and Young People’s Settings (Level 1 CACHE Diploma) - Full-time
